Even the Best Laid Plans Fail

In the days and weeks following the armistice that brought World War I hostilities to an end, the World’s leaders were hard at work. Not only did they need to find a way to penalize Germany both financially and territorially but an infrastructure would have to be put into place to keep Germany from reviving and have national pockets of resistance to insure a buffer zone of land mass and people should the need arise.

During this process a young Indo China representative asked for an audience with the quorum of world leaders but Ho Chi Minh did not get one. Another man that did not receive a warm reception form the same group found himself in the favor of another outsider Benito Mussolini.

While all of this was unfolding a strong right-wing element in Germany was already promising a renewal of the Fatherland sitting in the ashes of defeat. In fact, the world was counting on American President Woodrow Wilson and his League of Nations to be the guarantor of world peace and safety.

Ironic, within twenty years the world was again at war on a much larger scale than  previously  and the rise of men such as Hitler, Mussolini, and Ho Chi Minh, once spoken of  in obscurity, would be the ones dictating the tempo of international events.

The world leaders divided the national boundaries of Europe and Africa, as well as the near and far east, hoping for peace. But eighty years later there is a different truth. All of the manmade efforts fell exactly into place with what G-d’s word had predicted millennia before, and we realize unless the Lord builds a house they that build it labor in vain!

Judgment Will Come

Nuremburg, Germany had been the scene of celebration for many Nazi victories in their attempt to conquer the world. It had been the place where Hitler’s fiery rhetoric whipped an entire nation into a frenzy believing in a “Thousand year Reich.”

The pageantry and spectacle of thousands of troops marching in unison and thousands of onlookers experiencing the glow of the torches and banners displayed for all to see was a sight to behold.

But  then came the end of World War II,  a shattered army, a nation ravaged by war,  and a broken destitute people. However, as allied forces occupied the nation and it’s people began to rebuild their lives and country,  Nuremburg once again was the center of activity.

The Nazi leaders that once stood in the grandstands and dragged the world through war,  now sat being tried for war crimes by an international tribunal. Germany’s leaders, once above the law,  would find themselves sentenced to death or taking their own lives. Judgment had fully come to those that seemed to have escaped the system.

Ecclesiastes 8:11-12, “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear G-d, who fear before Him.” N.K.J.

Things might seem to go out of control,  but in the end G-d has a way of making things right , He always does.

It’s Not What You Own It’s What You Have

The ancient empires of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome left a legacy of rich, powerful nations that collapsed. In more recent times power-house nations such as Britain, France, Spain and Germany have all risen to power then come crashing down.

Now the troubled nations of South Africa is said to be the “Next Zimbabwe” and it nationalizes more and more while embracing more of a communist stance.

Rampant crime, disease, food shortages and civil unrest leaves South Africa, once the gem of African nations, on the verge of total collapse.

How does the nation with a wealth of natural resources and rich with minerals come crashing down? True as the world economy is collapsing and financing is almost impossible to obtain we must remember G-d’s laws.

South Africa is not the only nation that is moving farther away from G-d and once His covering is lifted the results are tragic and there is not enough economic stimulus to bail out any nation.

Solomon said it best regarding the conduct of people and nations, “Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless will smooth his way, But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.”

Proverbs 11:4,5 NASB
